The name Pam Cochran might first be associated with the Town and Country Shopping Center but once you meet her you quickly realize the name is also synonymous with contributing to our city as she continues to give endless hours in making Kettering the place to live, work and play.
Her contributions and involvement are many including the Board of Directors for the Kettering Moraine Oakwood Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Trustees for the Hithergreen Center in Centerville/Washington Township.
Pam actively participated in Kettering’s 50th Anniversary celebration in 2002 offering her facility and services for various activities including the city block party. Additionally, she has served on the Kettering Leadership Academy board since 2003 and was a participant in the Academy during the 2006-2007 session. Since that session she has been instrumental in sponsoring other participants.
She has faithfully served the Kettering Volunteer Advisory Council for the past 12 years and strongly supports volunteerism.
Pam is a very active member of the Kettering Noon Optimist Club having served as Past President and on numerous committees. In 2004, she was selected as the “Optimist of the Year”. She believes strongly in their goal of “Bringing Out the Best in Kids”. One of her most notable accomplishments in that arena included spearheading a campaign to collect school supplies for the flood victims in Indiana resulting in the delivery of a truckload of much needed items. She also believes deeply and continues to organize fundraisers to support the Kettering “Good To Go” backpack program, a program initiated during her session with the Leadership Academy. Pam’s involvement in these programs and in fostering literacy did not go unnoticed by Project Read, as she was the recipient of their Grimmy Award in 2008.
But Pam is probably best known for her quiet way of always stepping up to offer her facility or other donations to local service clubs, volunteer activities and schools in Kettering.
Pam and her husband Gary reside in Washington Township and have 6 grown children and 11 grandchildren.
Kettering Holiday At Home Foundation is very pleased to honor Ms. Pam Cochran as the 2009 Grand Marshal.
